Oranges Can Keep the Pests Away

Do you have pesky bugs at home? When the cooler Fall-like weather hits the south, the bugs start crawling – looking for better places to burrow up, or just enjoying the cooler temps. Spiders are the biggest pests, usually lurking… well, basically everywhere. How many times have you walked through a web this Fall?

One of the best things about CitruSolution is the active ingredient d-limonene. Not only is this a degreasing agent, it also makes a fabulous repellant. If you want to keep the pests away, there are 2 ways you can accomplish just that.

1.       Make your own insect spray. Take orange peels (one orange will do) and put them into 2 cups of boiling water. Steep them for 12-24 hours. The hot water releases the d-limonene from the peel’s pores. Once the water is cooled, pour into a spray bottle and spray generously around doors and windows or even in the nooks and crannies of your front porch. This is a much better alternative to the chemicals in insecticides.

2.       Make your own repellant. This one is super easy. Place orange peels around your garden or in flower beds to reduce the number of mosquitoes and other bugs. You can also rub the orange peel directly on your clothing. (Plus, this smells a lot better than deet, and it is proven to be much safer).
