Armrests: The Dirtiest Surface on Your Furniture

Oftentimes we tend to put our furniture on a longer wait when it comes to cleaning. However, the living room is one of the most-used areas of the home – especially when entertaining – so keeping the furniture clean should be top-priority.

One of the easiest ways to clean is to remove the cushion covers and wash them in the washing machine on a gentle cycle, while following with a low heat setting in the dryer. Unfortunately, you still have to somehow clean the armrests. As one of the most used parts of chairs, couches, and loveseats the armrests can be difficult to clean. The fabric has been pulled very tight and stapled, making “scrubbing” hard to do without harming the fabric. The armrests are high-contact surfaces, which means that the oils from human contact will eventually break down the fibers.

When cleaning the armrests, always use a dry white cloth. (This prevents any dyes from staining the surface you’re cleaning). If you have our CitruSpotter, this is what we recommend for you to use. Spray CitruSolution directly onto the armrest. Let the solution soak into the armrest for about 1-2 minutes. Take the white cloth and gently make very small, light circles over the armrest. You may spray a little more CitruSolution if there are stains.

If you’d rather leave it to the professionals – you’re in luck. We clean furniture too!
We take extra care to not only clean the cushions and armrests; we will also clean the sides, front, and back – those REALLY hard places to clean. It takes a few hours to dry, and your furniture will look refreshed. (and it will be sanitized!)
