How to Remove Candle Wax from Carpet

If you enjoy burning candles or using wax melts, save this tip in your back pocket.

In the instance that the melted wax meets your area rug or carpet, don’t panic – this tip will help you with the BIG messes as well as the little ones.

Before rushing to clean up the wax as a liquid, wait until it dries and hardens. Trying to remove the liquid wax will only push the wax and the oils deeper into the fibers, making it even more difficult to remove. Once the wax hardens, you can scrape the bulky pieces off the top of the fibers with a butter knife or a credit card. (Just make sure the edge of what you are using is not extremely sharp, or you’ll cut the carpet fibers!)

Once you scrape away the hardened pieces of wax, take your bottle of CitruSpotter* and lightly spray the area. Let it sit for about 3-4 minutes. Use a white cloth and lightly scrub in a circular motion. Repeat as needed to remove the wax stain. For darker colors with red pigment, repeat the process 3 times. The degreasing properties of CitruSolution will help remove the stain.
